• Who was your primary influence and why?
My primary influences have shifted over the years as my style has progressed and developed. Some names are: Sargent, Liljefors, Landseer, Kuhn, Kuhnert, Schmid, Ching, Reynolds, Lawson, Anton, F.T. Johnson, Lynch, Rungius, Wyeth, and Streeton, to name but a few.
• What is your favorite color to paint?
To call one color my favorite would be impossible. A color is interesting only in relationship with other colors. I love painting a fox in winter because of how its rich oranges and rusts contrast the snow’s cool blues and purples.
• What is your favorite piece of art and why?
Golden Summer, Eaglemont by Arthur Streeton depicts the undulating plains of Australia with the perfect use of color and tone, hard and soft edges, texture and symmetry. You can feel the warmth of the sun and the vastness of the country.
Edward Aldrich grew up in Colorado, which instilled in him a love of nature and wildlife and fueled his passion to capture those images in his art. In his continued desire to grow as an artist, he studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. This formal training provided a foundation from which he has been able to develop a unique vision for his art. His work is in numerous museum collections and he has participated in many national shows, such as Birds In Art®, Rockwell Museum of Western Art’s Re-presenting Representation, National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum’s Small Works, Great Wonders Winter Art Sale, and Oil Painters of America’s National Juried Exhibition.
